How does it work?

1

Step 1

Paste your .ris references

Copy RIS content exported from EndNote, Mendeley, Zotero, or any reference manager. Single record or full library export — every entry is parsed individually.

2

Step 2

Pick a citation style

Choose APA, MLA, Chicago, Vancouver, IEEE, Harvard, ABNT, or any of 60 curated styles. CiteMe formats each entry according to that style.

3

Step 3

Download your bibliography PDF

Click "Download PDF" to get a formatted bibliography ready to print or share. Uses Knuth-Plass line breaking for typographic quality.

Frequently asked questions

Is this a bibliography PDF or the paper itself?
CiteMe generates a bibliography PDF — a formatted reference list built from the metadata in your .ris file. It does NOT download the source articles. Use Unpaywall, your library proxy, or Sci-Hub if you need the papers themselves; this tool turns reference metadata into a printable bibliography.
Which citation styles can I pick for the PDF?
APA 7, MLA 9, Chicago author-date, Chicago notes-bibliography, Vancouver, Harvard, IEEE, ABNT, AMA, and 30+ more — every style supported by CiteMe's engine works for the PDF export.
How is the PDF formatted?
CiteMe uses a Typst-based typesetter for typographic quality: Knuth-Plass line breaking (the same algorithm LaTeX uses), proper hanging indent for bibliographic entries, italic and small-caps where the citation style requires them, and clickable DOI links.
Can I convert multiple RIS records at once?
Yes. Paste a multi-record RIS export and CiteMe parses every entry between TY and ER tags into its own bibliography line. The free-tier batch limit applies to the count of entries per submission.
Which reference managers export RIS?
All major ones: EndNote (File > Export > RIS), Mendeley (File > Export > RIS), Zotero (File > Export Library > RIS), RefWorks, Citavi, Papers, and most library databases.
How does this differ from BibTeX to PDF?
Same engine, different input. Use this when your reference manager exports .ris (EndNote, Mendeley, Zotero default). Use BibTeX to PDF when you have a .bib file from Overleaf or LaTeX.
