Frequently Asked Questions

How do I cite a podcast in IEEE format?

Format: [1] A. B. Host, "Episode title," *Podcast Name*. Publisher, Mon. Day, Year. [Online]. Available: URL Example: [1] G. Raz, "The Airbnb story," *How I Built This*. NPR, Jan. 15, 2024. [Online]. Available: https://www.npr.org/example

How do I number podcast citations in IEEE?

IEEE uses numbered citations in square brackets: [1], [2], [3], etc. Each source is assigned a number in the order it first appears in your text. If you cite the same podcast again later, you reuse the same number. The reference list is ordered numerically, not alphabetically.

What does [Online] mean in IEEE citations?

The "[Online]" descriptor indicates the source was accessed via the internet. For podcasts retrieved from a website or streaming platform, include "[Online]. Available:" followed by the URL. This tells readers the medium through which the content was accessed.

How do I format names in IEEE podcast citations?

IEEE places initials before the surname: "A. B. Surname" (not "Surname, A. B." as in APA). For multiple hosts, separate with "and": A. B. Host and C. D. Host. Use first and middle initials followed by a period and space before the surname.

How do I cite an entire podcast series in IEEE?

Format: [1] A. B. Host, *Podcast Name*. Publisher, Year–present. [Online]. Available: URL Example: [1] S. Koenig, *Serial*. Wondery, 2014–present. [Online]. Available: https://serialpodcast.org
